Rainy Day Elan Valley
this Dam above is Pen y Garreg Dam - I think it is probably the most photographed out of all four main dams as its sat in amongst stunning scenic views and the road curves around it! You can go on open days up the inside wall and in to that tower! If you are much braver than me.
looking just like a bridge with a road on, this is Garreg Ddu Dam, a completely submerged dam. There were two flooded valleys to cause this reservoir, and numerous buildings and houses. I find it a little eerie if I think about that too long. In fact over 100 people were 'moved' and rehoused in the Elan valley for the building of all the reservoirs. Two mighty fine large country houses were also submerged, both of which were connected to the poet Shelley.
The dams are beautiful, amazing feats of engineering from back in the early 1890s, but the countryside around here is something else. The river is gorgeous and the autumn colours merely accentuate it.

Climbed a new hill...
Am pretty sure I could go on a different footpath/track every single day for years and still never walk the same place twice. Of course its not quite like that - I have my favourites that I repeat, and I am never quite sure what's at the top of some 'new' hill walks, so wait until I have someone I can coerce into coming along take with me to help with the dogs. Finally this weekend we hit a new trail and were delighted at the view and whole new area it led to. Okay I was delighted, pretty sure the big kids were nonstop complaining about the drizzle and/or the steep hill part. but still - new hill conquered!

Through the gate
Not sure how anyone local gets anywhere fast, but I have a habit of stopping for photos. If I don't stop for photos I have to exclaim loudly about the light (- OH THE LIGHT here is awesome-) and the views, its a photographer thing...

Top dog walk
When I say "top' dog walk I don't just mean one of the best, I mean the one highest up! The views are stunning from all the beacons, even if you don't like heights {me} or aren't allowed off a lead {the dogs} or have been coerced there by your mother {my son} ;)
