I wrote this for my social media page but wanted to share it here too, I feel it is so important, and sadly the way of our society today.
So, you're on Facebook, and you've just read something really funny, seen a company you like, or thought to yourself oh good advert. What do you do? Scroll on? Maybe you hit that little thumbs up. You ‘like’ it. Good for you.
What do you do when your come across bad service, rude staff, delayed stock, or find an advert rude or hypercritical? Do you hit that little angry face? Maybe, but usually you will be moved to write. You will leave a negative review or super angry comment online.
Why? Why do we feel its okay to merely ‘Like’ good service or hard work, yet if its bad service or something we don't like, we find our fingers can type?
It doest matter what company I work with, asking happy, enthusing customers to leave us positive feedback results, and them promising they will, will result in one or two good reviews. Even those customers who are thrilled/delighted/tearfully happy with their service or product.
Yet if one customer out of hundred isn't impressed you can bet theres a negative review on the way. I see it time and time again.
Its killing small businesses online. It has a massive knock on affect; Google, eBay, Facebook all take negative reviews very seriously. They alter where you can advertise, who sees your company, and what you can do on their site.
Truthfully, when was the last time you went online and said hey well done, thanks so much, to a company or service? We are all just too busy.
Yet it can have a wonderful affect on businesses. You not only lift the mood and spirits of a hardworking team, or an individual wondering if they should carry on, but you could bring more business their way, open new doors for them and really help them. Wouldn't you wish that for them, if you liked their work?
I know- bad customer service is awful, and we absolutely shouldn't stand for it.
But isn't it about time we stood up for good service and good work just as much?
