These little hints of spring

All around our lovely house, its changing. Delightfully :) 

The hedges along the lanes have been cut.

The catkins are out.

The pony rugs are off. 

And the snowdrops are everywhere.

bit colder today...

We still pretty much have full on snow out here, down the lane, tho its slushy in the town now.

Its also very overcast grey. Rumour has it more snow tomorrow/monday.. but not all the forecasts agree on that!  Snow I like, freezing slush that follows I'm not so mad about :( 

 

and so it begins...

just a warning for what we apparently have in store for tomorrow!

Whilst I appreciate some of you are sick of the months of snow you get, we arent sick of it yet... lol as we haven't had any for ages. Months. 
Photographers, school children {and teachers;) } get VERY excited about british snow. People with proper jobs ;) and those that have to travel are not so keen. Here in the South of the UK, its usually fun, not very deep and lasts approx a day or two if we are lucky.  So, as a ratio, this house is very excited with the forecast for tomorrow!

Frosty goodness

This is what makes me happy.

This view, or similar, never fails to lift my mood, to make me grin like a crazy person, and it resets my attitude to positive.  I love our vast Forest, with its different vistas, varying landscapes and space. I love the bits I know, the bits I'm about to move to and dont know, and all the parts I visit rarely too. 

It shares the glory of the season's colours perfectly. The rust of autumn is fading away, leaving the grey blue hues of winter. Its is frosty, it is freezing and its just heavenly.

1) Mottisfont Abbey, from the back. siiiiigh, love big houses of this period. I come over all Jane Austen-y. :)

3) Rows and rows of lavender, and a big garden. Sounds like the solution to world peace to me...

{a little bit of} today in pictures..

It was hot today.

and so everywhere either water side or forest based, was crowded... We were, of course, heading to somewhere that was both of those things..... :/

I wasnt feeling too good today, and I have absolutely no patience with crowds at the best of times... still, its okay, we know to walk a little further along....

to where its much quieter 

And stop there, for a sunbathe.. oops sorry, I mean for some crabbing ;)

We had some secret advice, after our last crabbing episode took three hours to catch three crabs...

and it worked :)

7 crabs, big fiesty ones, in 20 minutes. 

this is the one that seriously pinched Mr Britguy...

I was trying to teach him the safe way of holding a crab....

what can I say, other than he really needs to pay attention more ;)

He is a totally town raised guy. He does not 'get', talk or deal with animals if he can help it. So Lord knows how he ended up married to a Dr Dolittle... but anyway... we are working on it ;)

Not sure that crab really helped.

Mr Swan and I were sharing snacks. Well not sharing exactly... He was eating mine...

As for our secret weapon in the world of line and net crab fishing?

Then somewhere along the line you got all cynical and grown up, and have now never seen such overpriced tat..... LOL LOL
