Well, I made a deal to take my iphone portrait every month so often and I havent been too bad at remembering either.

I'm not dirty, I just sort of tan that way. I know, I too want to wash my face everytime I look in the mirror...

Yeah I bite my lip when in doubt.{Sadly this has never had the 50 shades effect ;) mwhahahah. If you have no clue what I meant there, you are quite probably a man, and its best you don't ask ;) }

I have stopped straightening my hair. Saving my self about £900 a month and 400 hours in the morning. Or there abouts. So now it is absolutely mad tousled and  messy lovely ;)
Its very soft and has stopped breaking so I figure what the heck.  

Thats a navy linen shift dress. Its lovely. only now, -several hours later- it looks a lot like I am wearing screwed up newspaper... ;)

Thats my b&w family portrait wall beside me. Time I added some new ones there I think!

They both wanted all their hair cut off.

Mollie because she is the least girlie girl and doesn't like having to 'do' her hair and use things like hair bobbles...

Daisy for a slightly more complicated reason. As always with this girl. The last time they had their hair cut, she had two inches cut off....and Mollie had four. So, whenever we saw someone the shock of Mollie's big difference resulted in them saying 'OH! wow! Mollie, your hair is lovely!' and not really noticing Daisy's {until prompted ;) } There was no way on earth Daisy was going to let that happen again, ever. Hence her words in the hairdressers chair  - 'I want exactly what my sister just had' !!!!

We finally found an okay children's hairdressers. Now I don't have to beg my 'adults only' hairdressers to do it, nor pay quite much! Woot!

Its a bit of a shock every time I see their hair. I like it, but I like long hair too.. either way. This is handy for summer holidays tho :)

You'll note Daisy has still got a flower in her hair. If you think short hair is not girlie, she'd like you to look again ;) She will be working it!!!

Mollie has left today, just after this photo, on her first school residential- over night for two nights - trip. I had a bit of a pang dropping her off. Her and her bag of gluten free food, her wellies and larger-than-her holdall. You forget sometimes how young they are, til you see them all lined up in the playground with their bags and worried but smiley faces. agggh. She is very excited, only the tiniest bit worried.
'Do you think you'll notice I'm not here Mum?' she asked. Which made me smile. Like mothers could ever lose count of exactly who is where and when....

Daisy is on deck with Daddy -aka those who are brave and fearless/dont mind getting wet from wave splashes.
Mollie and I are in a sheltered area - aka those who are not so brave and fearless/really hate getting cameras wet...

It was freezing. Her coat is in her backpack :/ 

She has no idea I was taking this. Daisy not posing is quite a feat ;)

It was taken on a very busy camera day - over 300 photos taken by me today, in various locations:) 

I was scrolling thro many many photos I had downloaded and had a sharp intake of breath at this one. Just exactly right. 

 

how to catch an umbrella....

There was a fair bit of singing in the rain type dancing and umbrella throwing today...

Gotta love how Daisy shuts her eyes when its her turn to catch, but still catches it anyway :) I think she's Mary Poppins!

What you should know about this picture...

The teen-son-who-is-now-not-a-teen, is doing just fine. We visited him briefly, - to feed him mostly ;) and I got his picture. He always loves it when I stop him a busy high street to take his picture ;) :)

Three out of four - Daisy is full of heavy cold right now and was standing with Daddy at this point, not really in the mood for pictures much, bless.

Speaking of the Daddy, he just doesn't DO pictures like this. Not in crowded places anyway. I cant blame him, I wouldn't either, on the other side of the camera. 

 Teen daughter was actually accompanying us out on this day. She doesn't normally do that - we are not cool to be with anymore you understand, but she wanted to see Kal's Uni room.

Mollie, and her slightly manic grin here, was running on sugar and no sleep. She'd recently got back from a friend's sleep over, where I hear they finally fell asleep about 1.30am... eeek!

The shop behind them is called Superdry. Or very expensive for what it is, japanese label, where they make every look really worn and battered before youve even paid for it. Or maybe I'm just getting old ;)

That is Teen daughters 'FB" face. Or one of them. Its a bit annoying/soul destroying that every teen girl pulls one of their Facebook faces when you point a camera at them. Its like in a nanosecond that they do it. 

Teen-son-who-is-not-a-teen looked a bit tired. You know how it is when you party all night and then your parents text you to say they are coming down that very morning... ;) STILL; he's got FIVE firsts on his coursework at Uni so we'll let him off :) :)

I actually had to stand in a road to get this shot. Not on a path, on a road. I'm so hardcore.

I'm really liking that orange umbrella. 

It was freezing. That's why Teen Daughter was so well wrapped up of course. sheesh.

We'd just eaten wagamama for lunch. And I googled the calories. OH don't do that in restaurants... mortifying. 

Whilst absolutely not technically perfect, this had to be my POTD, because they will all change in a matter of weeks and I'll look back at this and go 'aw...' :)

There is a light that this time of year, has me scurrying for my camera. The grey thundery clouds 'trap' light down here, below them. It really sings and glows. This picture below is just one of those moments. It is SOOC {straight out of camera- no editing to get those colours, just sunlight} and gorgeous. My favourite colours in one bundle.

 

~POTD 8th Oct

Today was my birthday.

I became very old {39} { I dont mind saying it - yet ;) }

and I have got to say the day did not get off to an auspicious start... I'm not mad about birthdays... HUGE pressure to HAVE A GOOD DAY, GET CARDS FROM EVERYONE, ENJOY YOURSELF, BE SWAMPED WITH GIFTS. 
And, well, you know, that doesnt always go to plan. hahaha.
STILL, never mind. I am alive, older and therefore by some decree, wiser too. I am still very lucky and although all things are not perfect, they are good enough.  

The day got better, I had my hair done and that always helps brighten my day :) I had a billion coffees made for me, a dinner date with Mr BG {was lovely}, plenty of phone calls and messages, fab homemade chocolate pretzels {Teen daughter} rather cool homemade cards  {all three girls}  {picture to follow} and a phone call from Mr Uni Student himself.

After wishing me a Happy Birthday, he told me he had hidden a gift under his desk, in his room, before he left. I found a bag, with swirly silver earrings in, and this note on the front...

 

I may have shed a tear.

 

or 500.

 

I still cant read the note out loud without tearing up.  I have become a very watery person. He's a good boy.

 

But can he please not make me cry every day?  I've already given up mascara.
