1) Today is exactly a month until my birthday. wow. Not normally the sort of thing you really notice - unless you are about six- but funnily enough its my 40th coming up and I am becoming one of those people who are freaking out about reaching that age. You have no idea how my fingers just pasued over the keys then... type 40? oooo. difficult!
Before you say anything, if you are under 40 - you can say what you like. Just you wait until its your turn!!!
If you are over 40- yes I know, age is relative. once I am 40 and a few days I will not mind, however, right now not being a thirty something is very scary concerning me slightly.
This is not helped by having teenagers. They are absolutely convinced 30 is old, 40 is, like, dead. Already they are using phrases such as 'you cant wear that if your 40!' 'you cant do that if your 40!' and generally re-enforcing the life rushing by me sensation...!!!!
2) Yesterday and this morning I was literally crying in bed.
No, not over my age {yet} but because I have had a stupid - no other word for it, well no other word I can type here... - kidney infection. Hello, that hurt. {that's an understatement!!!!} However, touch wood, I am starting to feel better this evening. Bit by bit. And hope to not wake up crying tomorrow. fingers crossed
3) The girls have not found my two days of bed rest very exciting :( not much I could do about it really.... but today we snuggled up and downloaded a rental movie from itunes. I'd not tried the rental thing before.
It works. fast. {Well, once I had deleted 500 items needed to free up enough space anyway...} Its not the cheapest rental, but then actually I have no clue what rental costs anymore... I never get time to watch a movie unless its at the cinema. So one plus about the kidney infection then. ha!
4) If you feel a need to shout/be shouted at about jobs, driving lessons, gap years, rent, paying your way, unfair parenting and suchlike, do feel free to turn up here, most evenings. You can join in. I'll be in the other room..
eeek!
5) Four supermarkets later and I FINALLY have 'super fine polenta' for a traybake recipe. I knew what polenta was, but none of the supermarket staff did. Nothing like being stared at blankly by shop staff.... Just so any british amongst us know for future reference - its sold as cornmeal in Asda. Which is not cornflour. Nor semolina, cous cous, or tapioca. Nor will any of them do. Neither will saying 'no sorry, we dont sell that' and then us finding it on your shelves two minutes later.... genius staff :(
Any how I really hope this lemon traybake is amazing now I have gone to such lengths to get all the ingredients!!
6) Am in denial. the kitchen ceiling is being partially re-plastered on Thursday. and for many reasons, I havent cleared it out yet. Repeat after me, it will not make much mess, it will not make much mess...
!!
7) New shoes. best medicine ever. Dont believe me? Well, they came in the mail about 12 noon and since them I've been feeling better and better. Obviously now, if youre feeling at all under the weather, you need to go purchase new shoes. :) youre welcome :)
8) Actually it is slightly depressing how all sandals are now in the sale. Summer is over. {it began??} Its only lessened slightly by all those lovely leather winter boots in the stores. oooo. winter boots. :) :) :)
9) I might seriously need to address shoe storage. Tell me where do you keep yours? You know, should the bottom of your wardrobe be running out of room ;)
10) I've just found the wish list of things we were going to do this summer break..havent seen it snce about week one.....Still left unticked on the list is make a G/F trifle, visit a castle {pref one we havent been to before} bake & ice shaped cookies, visit a different beach....
Right. I have some catching up to do and a week or so to cram it in :)

I have no ideas about shoe storage . . . but I do have a tip about a kidney infection . . . especially when you have to *p** every ten minutes . . . every time you pee, drink a half a glass of water (or clear fluid) . . . flushes out the infection quicker! It works for preventing a full blown infection as well.

I'm so sorry you're still not feeling well! Hopefully it's better by the weekend. And I say just clear out the breakables/really precious things, and cover the rest with old sheets. ;) I can't wait for fall, it's finally below 90F today for the first time in weeks (not typical for how close we are to the coast!) and I'm much happier. Have my fall boots all picked out! Just need to find room in the budget...

Hope that infection goes away soon. And I know exactly what you mean about the birthday. Trouble is, time doesn't stop flying and I'll be looking at the next big one before you know it :-0
Can I have that trayback recipe if it works well (and it's GF and dairy free!)
