I am cross with google earth maps - we are not a big city in the USA, {they seem to be updated constantly} so our road has not been updated for AGES and still shows trees and houses where there are now none. and the wrong car in my drive....It bugs me. and yes, I am well aware it is of no importance...
But anyway. Street view is very cool. well; if you are house hunting it is. Otherwise, I'm not sure anyone other than social stalkers {or clue solving google earth fans} actually use it.... ;)
This made me smile/shriek/grimace - and I hope you enjoy it too. From the Guardian website. Street views Google Earth wasnt expecting..

My dad is in the photo for his house, with a confused expression on his face, wondering why that car had a big satellite thingy on the roof :D

I stalked you ;) And I saw the wrong car in your driveway! I love street view for taking kids to friends' houses!
It still blows me away that these little google cars have driven down ALL of these little streets and collected these images. Who would have thought this was possible just a few years ago?!

Just last night we used street view to try and remind our youngest of a vacation we took to Canada in 2008. He didn't remember.

It's funny but we "drove" in 3D map today with kids and they noticed that the maps are old, I mean they said that they are almost their age. And my son is actually 9, our map was updated in 2004..
