Well, with Mr Britguy running races we get the chance to take an overnight - sans enfant- to London for him to compete. Fabulous :) I love my family of four, but oh yes we need a night off now and again ;)
The day before the race was Saturday, and we found ourselves open mouthed at the size of the shopping/tourist crowds. We found we couldnt even shop, it was too much. We looked forward to the peace of the streets being closed off for sundays race.
Um... maybe not. Gone were the shoppers and the tourist groups. BUT in their places were many many MANY race goers and their support.
I took this on the way to the start. I thought this was busy. ha!!
They took the runners off one way and left the race widows/widowers to go another. I was on my own. so I figured I'd walk to the finish line and take some pictures of London along the way.
It was hot and already getting muggy but rather beautiful, with dramatic rain clouds threatening one way and blue sky the other...
This is the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. At 9am its not got crowded yet.
If I crossed the square and took at picture looking the other way I got blue skies..
This is Nelson, looking down on the race route...
But, WAIT. wait wait... what's that I spy there? It cant be! no!! But yes- its a
pigeon. In Trafalgar Square! {you may recall my
last post about NO pigeons in Trafalgar Square}
Hi Mr Pigeon. Did you know you were banned?
I was delighted to see him, and took his picture a handful of times, much to the bemusement of the Japanese tourists!
I got to see Mr Britguy running at one point, about 3ks into the race. I was so impressed to see him in amongst 27,000 runners that I didnt even take a picture! But these people were before I saw him LOL

ThenI headed further down towards the finish line.
You think they are expecting people to be thirsty? LOL
And then, despite standing at the finish line watching carefully I couldnt see Mr Britguy finish. So I wondered back towards the meeting point. All the time looking out for him. Cant be that hard right? All I had to do was find him in amongst this crowd...which one way looked like this
and the other way looked like this
eeeek!!!
But obviously I did find him, and gave him a big so proud of you ugh youre all sweaty hug:) He's my sports hero:)
you're my home hero!xxxxxxxxx
