Guess what I took pictures of today
Well the Orient Express was coming into Southampton. And thats the kind of thing that makes my Dad get his lenses out so heck I thought I'd go too. Not that I'm a train buff. altho... after seeing this train I think I could take up travelling on them. Ones like this that is....
there were quite a lot of other photographers. and Train buffs. and video camera holders. Take alook at just the other side of the road. I was just about the only woman. and definitely the only woman with a camera. hmmm.... I think I can say I was the best looking photographer there. ...mhahahaha!
and I must rally a bunch of girls to come along next time. We'll show these men....
anyway;
there were so many people trying to take the same shot.... I ended up crouching down to get out the way of all the lenses and took this shot, my favourite.
I like all those steam puffs.... {yes can you start to tell I'm not a train buff? you think my technical terms are giving it away?}
OH and I know the train buffs like to note the engine number. so I got that. along with some really happy jolly train drivers. engineers. coal shovellers. you know, these guys...
not happy are they? probably all these damn photographers on the line...
speaking of not happy faces
heres a passenger. No idea why he's not happy, not only has he just had a fine lunch coming from London (and dinner on the way back) but he's about to get a boat tour of Southampton and a tour around the Aviation Hall of fame.. And he paid over £300 a head for it. Oh wait....
but never mind him, I loved the lights, the tablecloths, the painted detail around the windows. Each carriage had its own name on the side too.
I liked this brass plate by every door-
which tells you - incase you cant see on here- that they were built in 1928. very cool.
Incase you'd like to know more about the Orient Express in Uk heres their web site
or, you know, if you were just thinking about, say, some fabulous way to take your wife christmas shopping or something *ahem*, they have some great trips where I, I mean 'she', would get to shop and then they would both get a fabulous luxury dinner on the way back. wow.
